A construction company’s website should turn evidence of completed work into a useful inquiry. Prospective customers need to understand the services offered, the area covered and the kind of project the company can handle. A dramatic homepage demo is less useful if every new project requires a developer to rebuild a gallery or if an estimating form produces misleading expectations.
BuildPress, Renovate and Constructo are commercial WordPress themes for this kind of business. Their differences are clearest when you consider who maintains the site and whether the website needs a cost estimate, a project portfolio or a store. We checked official documentation and marketplace information on October 15, 2026. This is a source-based comparison, without a hands-on speed test or claims about lead generation. Start with the contractor’s content workflow
Prepare one realistic project before buying a theme: the work requested, the location you are willing to disclose, photographs you can publish, the services delivered and a clear next step. Use that example to judge the editing model. Your office team should be able to add the next project without copying an entire homepage or breaking shared styling.
All three choices emphasize classic theme settings and external builders rather than a native full site editing workflow. Ordinary block compatibility is a separate question. For businesses still deciding between a specialist layout and a general foundation, our business WordPress theme comparison explains the broader foundation decision.
| WordPress theme | Editing approach | Regular-license price | Useful distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| BuildPress | SiteOrigin or Elementor demo workflow | US$99 | Documented builder-specific setup |
| Renovate | Elementor and WPBakery | US$79 | Included cost calculator |
| Constructo | Elementor or WPBakery | US$59 | Construction-focused demo selection |
BuildPress
BuildPress by ProteusThemes offers Classic, Light, Landscape and RTL demo approaches with Elementor or SiteOrigin. Its listing documents WooCommerce compatibility and an included Essential Grid plugin. It also explicitly says Visual Composer is supported but not bundled, an important distinction if your agency already uses that builder.
The BuildPress documentation is particularly useful for planning dependencies. It distinguishes required plugins from recommended ones and tells owners to deactivate the unused builder after importing a demo because Elementor and SiteOrigin can conflict. The required list includes ProteusThemes Support, Advanced Custom Fields, bundled ACF Repeater Field, Breadcrumb NavXT, Custom Sidebars, Classic Widgets and the importer.
That makes it a candidate for teams that value a documented handover. Choose a builder first, then prepare a short editing guide using that version’s actual screens. Do not assume two visually similar demo variants can be mixed without additional work.
The limitation is the size of the dependency list relative to a simple brochure site. Review which recommended features are genuinely needed and how custom fields remain available after a redesign. For a contractor publishing occasional project updates, a repeatable project template matters more than having every demo widget activated.
Renovate
Renovate by QuanticaLabs documents Elementor and WPBakery integration, a bundled Cost Calculator for WordPress and Slider Revolution. It targets renovation and home-service businesses, with WooCommerce compatibility listed alongside its builder support. Its demo importer provides a starting point for the company’s own content.
The calculator is the most meaningful reason to consider it over a portfolio-first theme. A small renovation business might want a visitor to describe floor area and project type before asking for a consultation. Specify the desired inputs and output in plain language before evaluating the demo, so the form serves your quoting process.
The limitation is commercial rather than visual: an estimate is useful only if the business maintains its assumptions. Decide who updates rates, which jobs require a site visit, and how the result explains exclusions. Avoid a form that looks precise when the underlying work cannot be priced from those inputs.
Ask how the included calculator receives updates and whether any desired advanced workflow needs a separate license. Do the same for payment or CRM connections. Treat the documented bundle as a feature inventory, not evidence that your full quoting process is already implemented. Renovate is most persuasive when the company can define a maintainable estimate pathway.
Constructo
Constructo by Anps supports Elementor and WPBakery and advertises construction demos, project presentation, Slider Revolution and WooCommerce. Its changelog states that substantial functionality moved into the included Anps theme plugin and that it must be updated and enabled. This companion is therefore part of the maintenance decision.
A practical strength is the opportunity to choose a construction-oriented starting layout without inventing a visual system from scratch. Evaluate one demo against your service structure and real photographs. Look for a clear route from a completed project to the relevant service and then to an inquiry.
There is a source inconsistency to resolve before purchase: the feature description cites eleven demos, while newer marketplace material and changelog entries describe additional demo variants. Confirm the exact current importer selection and which demos belong to Elementor. Do not treat the largest promotional number as a verified package inventory.
Its main limitation is the dependency between the theme, companion features and chosen builder. Ask what remains editable if a plugin is deactivated and who supplies bundled updates. A lower theme price can still be reasonable, but it should not conceal migration work or an editor workflow that the business cannot maintain.
Price, support and optional services
The table uses checked ThemeForest prices in US dollars before taxes and handling; it is not a comparison of every direct-vendor plan. We did not establish same-vendor free editions. Envato’s standard-license summary describes a single end product. BuildPress is marked 100% GPL: underlying code rights and purchase-linked support or activation entitlements are distinct. Confirm the applicable multi-site support arrangement rather than assuming an unlimited agency service plan.
The checked listings include future updates and six months of support. Later support renewal costs were not confirmed; request a current quote instead of treating the checkout’s initial extension offer as renewal pricing. Envato’s support policy does not include custom development. Budget separately for original photography, installation assistance, hosting, message delivery and any calculator, translation or commerce services beyond the documented bundle.
A useful prelaunch acceptance exercise
Ask the future site editor to add a project with six photographs, a long title and a service category. Review the result on a phone and a desktop. Confirm that images remain useful without making the page unnecessarily heavy, that captions make sense, and that the contact action is easy to find after the final photograph.
- Inquiry quality: collect the project type, broad location and preferred contact details that your team actually needs. Decide how attachments are handled before inviting uploads.
- Estimate ownership: if using a calculator, record who changes rates and how the estimate is reviewed. Verify each branching condition with realistic jobs.
- Compatibility: validate your chosen WordPress, PHP, builder and companion versions together. A historical commerce label is not a guarantee for an unlisted current checkout stack.
- Optional store: install WooCommerce only if the business needs a catalog or transactions. Theme compatibility does not include gateway accounts, shipping rules or paid extensions.
These are proposed checks for your implementation, not results from installing the reviewed themes. Ask the vendor for a matching staging demonstration where a requirement cannot be established from documentation.
Which one should you shortlist?
BuildPress suits an owner or agency that wants explicit builder-specific setup instructions and can manage the documented dependencies. Renovate is worth prioritizing when a maintainable estimate calculator is central to the inquiry process. Constructo fits a business seeking a construction demo foundation and willing to confirm its current builder and companion package. Choose the workflow that makes the next service or project update routine, rather than the homepage with the most visual effects.
