A church website serves visitors who need service times today and members looking for a sermon from several months ago. Those tasks become harder when a new homepage design hides the archive or a volunteer must enter the same event in several places. Native Church, Adore Church and Bethlehem offer different ways to connect recurring community information with sermon and event publishing.
This comparison covers imithemes’ Native Church and Adore Church, and MadrasThemes’ Bethlehem. It draws on official sources checked on October 16, 2026. We did not install the themes, audit accessibility or test payment integrations. The featured illustration is conceptual AI artwork rather than a screenshot of any product.
Start with the weekly publishing routine
List the records a volunteer creates each week: a service announcement, an event update, a recording and perhaps a ministry notice. Decide which need structured fields and which can remain ordinary pages. The goal is a dependable route from a service or speaker to related content. Donation processing, email delivery and ticketing should have clearly named owners outside the visual theme.
| WordPress theme | Content approach | Observed purchase price | Principal tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native Church | Classic or Elementor demo families; events and sermons | ThemeForest Regular License: US$89 | Select one compatible content stack |
| Adore Church | Church-focused templates, calendar and sermon media | ThemeForest Regular License: US$79 | Keep Core and template ownership clear |
| Bethlehem | Ministry layouts with The Events Calendar integration | ThemeForest Regular License: US$59 | Separate theme layout from plugin services |
Prices are the US-dollar marketplace observations before tax and handling. They are not annual subscription quotes. No matching official free edition of these three commercial products was established in the WordPress directory. Demo imports are starting material; replace sample sermons, people and event dates before opening a site to visitors.
Native Church
Native Church has both a classic publishing lineage and Elementor demos. Its official manual selector makes an important distinction: classic demos use built-in event, sermon and cause managers with page templates or SiteOrigin; Elementor demos use Eventer, iSermons and Give-related support. Choosing a demo therefore also chooses a content workflow.
The vendor’s Eventer guidance recommends disabling the built-in event manager when using that plugin. Existing classic event widgets and templates then stop working. The parallel iSermons guidance explains similar consequences for sermon widgets. This is a concrete migration concern, not merely a visual preference between two homepages.
For a new site, that choice can be made before content entry. For an established archive, inventory the records and templates first. Ask how speaker associations, recording URLs and event recurrences move into the selected stack. Do not assume that importing an Elementor demo converts old records automatically.
Its advantage is the ability to select an ecosystem around structured church content. The limitation is the need to understand which ecosystem is active. The vendor changelog also tracks separate Core, Eventer and iSermons updates, reinforcing the need to maintain the complete supported package. A useful evaluation would follow one sermon from upload through speaker archive and mobile playback, using your actual media-hosting arrangement.
Adore Church
Adore Church’s official listing emphasizes an event calendar, event lists, audio and video sermon support, galleries and church-oriented page layouts. It offers a more focused shortlist for a team that wants a consistent visual approach to announcements and recordings. The marketplace also lists WooCommerce and WPML compatibility.
The changelog names AdoreChurch Core as a separately updated component and records changes to recurring events and sermon metadata. Keep that component in the maintenance plan. A theme preview containing a sermon player does not explain your storage limits, audio delivery costs or how volunteers provide a transcript. Those are implementation decisions to settle independently.
The strength is a church-specific presentation vocabulary. Its limitation is the risk of treating familiar layouts as evidence that every publishing task is simple. Ask the maintainer to show where the sermon date, speaker, recording and downloadable document are stored. Decide whether a volunteer can correct one field without rebuilding the page.
Also inspect the calendar’s exceptions rather than only an ordinary week. A postponed service needs an unambiguous public explanation. A recurring event should not leave an obsolete date in a sidebar or countdown. These are recommended checks for a prospective implementation; the source review does not establish how a particular configuration will behave.
Bethlehem
Bethlehem is built by MadrasThemes and includes church, ministry and sermon-oriented layouts. Its listing describes Visual Composer page building, WooCommerce integration and events managed through The Events Calendar. This separates the event-management layer from the theme’s page styling more visibly than a purely built-in calendar approach.
The official events plugin has its own feature tiers and extensions. Confirm whether the required recurrence, registration or ticket workflow belongs to the free plugin, a paid extension or another service. Similarly, a Give-oriented donation layout should be budgeted against the actual donation plugin and gateway configuration. A theme purchase does not establish entitlement to every extension displayed in a demo.
Bethlehem’s listing marks the item as 100% GPL. Distinguish those code rights from purchase-linked support, downloads and any plugin service accounts. Its release notes and marketplace compatibility fields are not identical: the visible notes mention newer WooCommerce compatibility than the sidebar. Request confirmation of the intended WordPress, PHP and plugin versions rather than extrapolating from one badge.
This theme is worth considering when an organization wants its calendar requirements expressed through a known plugin ecosystem. The tradeoff is coordination: the person maintaining layouts and the person configuring events must agree on the same content model. Its advertised accessibility readiness is a vendor claim, not an accessibility audit we performed.
Editing, costs and continuity
These are classic theme approaches, even where a page builder provides visual editing. They do not establish native FSE template control. The WordPress Site Editor documentation explains why block-theme editing is a separate requirement. Ordinary block content support does not make a theme’s calendar or sermon template editable in the same way.
For a supported marketplace purchase, the listed future updates and initial six-month support period are separate from paid support extensions. Confirm the current extension quote; we could not establish a fixed future renewal amount. Do not budget a single purchase as an unlimited multi-church support plan. Hosting, media storage, payment fees, translation tools and specialist extensions may add recurring costs.
Write a handover page describing the weekly update sequence and who owns each account. Preserve original recordings and clean content exports so that a future redesign has source material to work from. For an organization primarily publishing causes and volunteer information, our nonprofit-theme comparison addresses that different priority.
Choose around the archive you will maintain
Choose Native Church when you are prepared to select and maintain a consistent classic or Elementor content stack. Shortlist Adore Church when its focused sermon-and-calendar presentation matches the team’s routine. Consider Bethlehem when The Events Calendar and separately configured donation tools align with your requirements. In each case, use a real weekly publishing example to evaluate the workflow.
A visitor should find the next service without understanding the website’s internal structure. A volunteer should be able to correct the next event without disturbing the sermon archive. Those two outcomes are more useful selection criteria than the number of demo variations.
